7 Days Safari From Fes Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Fes

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to explore the nearby streets, enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal, or simply unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead. Spend your first evening soaking up the unique atmosphere of Fez, one of Morocco’s most historic and cultural cities. Overnight in Fez.

Day 2: Fes Walking Tour

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Fez, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital. Explore the historic Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its narrow streets, traditional souks, and centuries-old architecture.

Visit some of the city’s most important landmarks, including the Royal Palace, the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and the famous Bab Boujloud, also known as the Blue Gate. Continue through Fes el-Bali, the oldest part of the city, where you’ll discover historic madrasas, traditional artisan workshops, and the renowned Al Quaraouine University, considered the oldest continually operating university in the world.

Enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your exploration of Fez and its rich cultural heritage. In the evening, return to your riad and relax after a day filled with history and discovery. Overnight in Fez.

Day 3: Tour to Merzouga and Camel Trekking in the Sahara

Today, you’ll start your journey around 8:00 AM, traveling to Merzouga via Ifrane, Azrou, and Midelt. Your first stop is in Ifrane, known for its beautiful scenery, where you’ll have the chance to take some stunning photos. Next, you’ll head to the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you can watch wild monkeys, feed them, and capture memorable moments. After visiting Azrou, you’ll continue to Midelt for lunch. Post-lunch, the journey takes you through the breathtaking Ziz Gorges, showcasing magnificent geological formations. You’ll pass through Errachidia, a major city in the southeast, and then on to Rissani. Along the way, enjoy the panoramic views of the Ziz Valley before arriving in Merzouga. Upon arrival in Merzouga, another adventure begins. If you’ve never ridden a camel before, this is your chance. Accompanied by a camel guide, you’ll trek into the heart of the Sahara Desert for about an hour. Enjoy the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes during your ride and witness one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Sahara. You’ll spend the night at a luxurious camp in the heart of the Merzouga desert. Under the starry sky, enjoy a delicious dinner followed by traditional Berber songs and dances. This night in the desert will be a truly unforgettable experience.

Day 4: Sunrise in the Desert and Journey to Ouarzazate

On the third day of your 7-day Fes desert tour, you’ll wake up early to watch the magical sunrise over the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, your adventure begins at around 8:00 AM with a camel ride back to Merzouga. From Merzouga, you will travel to Ouarzazate, but not before exploring some of the desert’s most beautiful spots. Your first stop is Erfoud, known for its fossilized marbles. Here, you’ll visit a workshop that produces marble fossils, learning about the unique geology of the area. Next, you’ll head to the Todra Gorges, an ideal place for walking and exploring on your own. After a leisurely lunch in the gorges, the journey continues through the town of Roses, Kelaa Mgouna, famous for its annual Rose Festival. You’ll then travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Skoura palm grove, until you reach Ouarzazate, famously known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” You’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel or Riad.

Day 5: Discovering Ait Ben Haddou and Journey to Marrakech

After breakfast, continue your journey to Aït Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most famous and well-preserved fortified villages. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its stunning earthen architecture and has been featured in several international films and TV productions, including Gladiator and The Mummy.

Take time to explore the ancient kasbahs, walk through the narrow alleyways, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Rich in history and culture, Aït Benhaddou offers a fascinating glimpse into Morocco’s past. In the afternoon, travel toward Marrakech via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, crossing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains and enjoying stunning views along the way. Day 6: Marrakech walking tour
