Booking & payment
How do I book a tour or activity?
Send us your request through the tour builder, WhatsApp or email via our contact page. We will check availability, send you a proposal with the itinerary, inclusions and price, and answer any questions. Your booking is only confirmed once we have agreed the details and payment arrangements in writing.
Why do tours say "Contact us for a price"?
Prices depend on your dates, group size, comfort level (budget, standard or luxury), and whether the tour is private or shared. Rather than show a misleading "from" price, we quote each trip individually so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Do you require a deposit?
Deposit requirements are set out in our cancellation policy and will be confirmed in writing before you book. Please do not send any payment until you have received written confirmation of the terms.
How can I pay?
Accepted payment methods will be explained in your written booking confirmation. We do not collect card details on this website, and we will never ask you to send full card details by WhatsApp or email.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please see our cancellation policy and terms and conditions. The specific terms that apply to your booking — including any deposit, cancellation windows and refunds — are confirmed in writing before you book.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can, especially for Christmas, New Year, Easter and other holiday periods, when desert camps fill up. That said, we can sometimes arrange trips at short notice — just ask.
Can I change my booking after it is confirmed?
Often, yes, depending on availability. Contact us as soon as possible. Any change fees or conditions are set out in our policies and confirmed in writing.
Tours & itineraries
What is the difference between a private and a shared tour?
A private tour is just for you and your group, with your own vehicle and driver/guide, and flexible timing. A shared tour runs on set routes with other travellers, which can lower the cost; shared departures are subject to availability and minimum numbers.
Can you customise an itinerary?
Yes. Most of our trips are tailored. Tell us your start and end points, number of days, interests and preferred comfort level through the tour builder, and we will suggest a route.
Can I travel from Marrakech to Merzouga in one day?
The drive takes roughly 9–10 hours without stops, so we always recommend splitting it over two days, usually with a night in the Dades Valley or near Todra Gorge. See our 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour and our transport guide.
Where do tours start and finish?
Most tours start in Marrakech, Fes or Merzouga, and some from Casablanca, Tangier or Agadir. Many can end in a different city from where they began. Pickups are usually from your riad or hotel — in a medina, this may involve a short walk to the nearest vehicle access point.
What kind of vehicles do you use?
We use our own vehicles (as reported by the business), typically air-conditioned minivans or 4x4s depending on group size and route. [TO CONFIRM: vehicle types and capacities]
Are your guides and drivers English-speaking?
[TO CONFIRM: languages spoken by drivers and guides] Please tell us your preferred language when you enquire and we will do our best to arrange it.
Desert camps
What are the desert camps like?
Is there electricity, Wi-Fi and a shower at camp?
It depends on the camp. Many have electricity or solar power and charging points; some have private showers and toilets; Wi-Fi and mobile signal are variable. We will confirm the facilities for your specific camp when you book.
Is it cold at night in the desert?
In winter (roughly December to February), nights can drop to around freezing. Camps generally provide blankets, but bring warm layers. See our packing list and season guide.
What happens to my luggage when I go to camp?
Usually your main luggage stays in the vehicle or at a hotel or guesthouse near the dunes, and you take a small overnight bag to camp. We will confirm the arrangement for your trip.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes, in most cases. Tell us about allergies or preferences (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and others) when you book so we can inform the camp and hotels. Options in remote locations can be simpler.
Activities & safety
Is a camel ride suitable for everyone?
Camel rides are gentle but involve rocking movements, especially when the camel stands up and sits down. They may not be suitable if you have back or joint problems, are pregnant, or have certain other health conditions. In that case, a 4x4 transfer to camp can usually be arranged instead.
How do you look after the camels?
We expect camels to be well fed, watered, rested and properly equipped. If you have any concerns about an animal's welfare, please tell us. Read more on our About page.
What are the age limits for quad biking and buggies?
Minimum ages are set by the operator and will be confirmed when you book. Typically, people driving a quad alone must be at least 16, while younger children may ride as passengers with an adult. All riders receive a safety briefing and protective gear, and vehicles are used only in designated areas. See quad biking in Merzouga.
Is sandboarding safe?
Sandboarding is fun and generally low-risk, but climbing dunes is tiring and falls happen. It is not recommended if you are pregnant or have back, neck or joint problems. See sandboarding in Merzouga.
Will I see the Milky Way?
The desert offers excellent night skies, but visibility depends on the moon phase and weather. Around a full moon, the stars are much fainter. We can suggest dates if stargazing is a priority — see stargazing in the Sahara.
Is Morocco safe for travellers?
Millions of people visit Morocco each year. As anywhere, use common sense, keep valuables secure and follow local advice. We recommend checking your government's current travel advice before you go.
Practical travel
When is the best time to visit the Sahara?
Spring (mid-March to May) and autumn (late September to November) are the most comfortable. Winters are sunny but cold at night, and summers are very hot. Read our best time to visit guide.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical care, evacuation, cancellation and any activities you plan to do (such as trekking at altitude or quad biking).
Do I need a visa for Morocco?
Requirements depend on your nationality. Please check with the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your country, or your government's official travel advice, well before you travel.
What should I wear?
Light, loose, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is comfortable in the heat and respectful in villages. Bring warm layers for desert nights and mountain areas.
Can I use cards, or do I need cash?
Cards are accepted in many city hotels and larger shops, but cash (Moroccan dirhams) is essential in rural areas, markets and the desert. ATMs are available in larger towns such as Rissani and Erfoud.
Should I tip?
Tipping is customary in Morocco but always at your discretion. It is a welcome way to thank drivers, guides, camel handlers and camp staff for good service.
