Half dayAmazigh Cultural Encounter
A respectful introduction to Amazigh language, crafts, food and daily life in the villages around Erg Chebbi.

Behind every rug and silver pendant in the south-east is a skilled maker. This workshop lets you meet one, learn how their craft works and have a go yourself under their guidance.
Depending on availability, the workshop may focus on weaving on a vertical loom, henna design, simple jewellery or leather work, or decorative pottery. Your artisan explains materials, tools and the meaning of traditional Amazigh motifs, then guides you through a small, achievable piece you can take home.
The aim is to learn and connect, not to shop. Many artisans also sell their work, and you’re welcome to browse — but purchases are entirely optional and you will never be pressured. We agree a fair fee with the artisan for their time and materials in advance.
Workshops are arranged on request and depend on the artisan’s schedule. Please ask before photographing the artisan or their family.
Timings shift with the season (sunrise and sunset change by more than two hours across the year).
We confirm these details in your written quote:
Some crafts use needles, small tools or henna — tell us about skin sensitivities and supervise children. Use only natural henna; avoid ‘black henna’, which can cause skin reactions.
