Day tripDay Trip from Marrakech to the Ourika Valley & Atlas Mountains
A cool, green escape about an hour from Marrakech: Amazigh villages, riverside lunch and a walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls.

The Ouzoud Waterfalls tumble around 110 metres in several cascades into a gorge in the Middle Atlas foothills. This day trip combines the drive through farmland with a walk down to the pools, lunch with a view and, often, a sighting of wild Barbary macaques.
Marrakech → Ouzoud → Marrakech
Best for: Nature lovers, families and anyone wanting a green, refreshing day away from the city.
Driving times are approximate and exclude long stops; they vary with weather, roads and traffic.
We leave Marrakech around 8 am and drive north-east across the plain and into the foothills of the Middle Atlas, arriving at Ouzoud by late morning. With a local guide on request, walk down through olive groves and past old water mills to the bottom of the falls, where a small boat can take you close to the spray. Along the path you will often see Barbary macaques – please do not feed or touch them. After lunch at one of the terrace restaurants overlooking the gorge, there is free time to swim in the designated pools in summer or climb back up for the view from the top. We set off around 3:30 pm and reach Marrakech by early evening.

No accommodation is included – this is a day trip returning the same evening. If you would like to stay overnight, we can suggest options and adapt the plan.
Travel is by air-conditioned vehicle with driver. Lunch is at your own expense at a restaurant by the falls.
Shared departures run on selected dates and need a minimum number of guests — availability is confirmed before booking.
The paths down to the pools involve many steps and can be slippery from spray; the climb back up is steep. Not suitable for people with limited mobility, although the top viewpoints are easier to reach. Swim only where permitted and safe. Do not feed the macaques – they can bite. Expect 5–6 hours in the vehicle in total.

In warm months, swimming is possible in designated pools; follow local advice.
The descent is easy but the climb back is steep. Allow time and take it slowly.
